Journal hosts Christmas writing contest
Do you have a great Christmas story you want to share?
The Prescott Journal is partnering with a pair of local businesses to host our second writing competition of 2017. After a highly successful Halloween story contest, the Journal is now looking for the best Christmas stories in South Grenville.
The competition is open to anyone. Entry is free. Narratives may include any form of holiday happening, from memories of that special gift and recollections of childhood cheer, to that special first Christmas together or the unforgettable turkey dinner disaster...to any other word-worthy tale full of advent action. Entries may be pure fiction in nature or factual recollections of cherished mistletoe memories. All stories must use or mention a South Grenville location in the plot and must not exceed a 1,000-word limit.
The top three entries will be published in the Christmas edition of the Prescott Journal and on www.prescottjournal.com.
Contest winners will be eating a bit better over the holiday season.
The first place winner will be awarded a $100.00 in-store gift certificate compliments of O'Reilly's Your Independent Grocer in Prescott. Second and third place winners will receive gift certificates from local restaurants, for $50.00 each, compliments of the Eastern Ontario Boneyard and the Prescott Journal.
Stories will be judged blindly on originality, style, grammar and punctuation.
Entries, created in a Word document with the author's contact information and story title on a separate cover page, can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Contest closes on December 15 at noon.
