PRESCOTT - The Prescott Flyers opened their two-game weekend with a convincing win in Renfrew Friday night, dominating the hometown Timberwolves and skating away with a one-sided victory.
After a close first period that saw the teams exchange single goals, the Flyers broke the game open netting five unanswered goals in the middle frame. Renfrew managed the loan goal of the third period but the visiting Prescott team coasted to the 6-2 victory.

Back in the Leo Boiving on Saturday night, the Flyers faced off against rival Westport Rideaus.
It looked like more of the same as the hometown squad scored twice in the first period getting markers from Heika and Burns to take a 2-0 lead back to the dressing room. Burns made it 3-0 netting his second of the evening early in the second before Westport finally found a way to solve Tondreau with a pair of power play goals to bring them to within one by the time the period ended.
In the final frame, the visiting Rideaus completed the comeback with two more goals to take the lead for the first time in the game. Devon Burns brought the crowd back to life tying the game and completein his hat-trick late in the third and setting up the need for overtime.
Westport spoiled the night for the Flyers, leaving them still looking for their first home-ice win of the season with the overtime winner less than a minute into the extra frame.
Despite the loss, Prescott has managed to earn points in 5 of their first 6 CCHL2 games of the young 2016-17 season. The Ottawa Canadians are in Prescott this coming Saturday. The Flyers travel to Athens to take on the Aeros on Sunday.
