Two plus two equals four for Flyers
PRESCOTT - Two games against two old rivals added up to a pair of wins and four big points for the Prescott Flyers on the weekend.
The Flyers skated into Westport on Friday night to face off against the Rideaus. The hometown team outshot Prescott 45-39, got the first goal and the last one, but it was the Flyers who came out on top of the scoreboard.
After a scoreless first period Prescott fell behind 1-0 just after the 10 minute point of the second. That Westport lead vanished just 72 seconds later when Brad Douesnard found the back of the Rideaus' net. Devon Burns took only another 29 seconds to give Prescott a 3-1 lead. Westport tied the game on the power play at the 16:38 mark. Joel Hunt scored a huge goal with only three seconds left on the clock to give the Flyers back the lead with two periods down.
Westport managed slipping two more power play goals past Sam Limoges-Ring in the third period but Prescott equaled the task with goals from the sticks of Devon Burns and Blayr McFarlane. Final score Prescott 5 - Westport 4.
Limoges-Ring was back between the Prescott pipes for a tilt against the Brockville Tikis back at the Leo Boivin Community Centre on Saturday night.
This game would belong to Flyer captain Greg Heika. Heika scored the lone goal of the first period to give Prescott the initial lead. The Tikis returned the favour tying the affair with the single goal of the second frame.
Brockville took the lead back just 24 seconds into the final period. Joel Hunt's unassisted marker three minutes later evened everything back up and set the scene for Heika's heroics. The captain tied gave the hometown squad back the lead at 8:52. After a Tikis power play made it 3-3, and with overtime looming, it was once again Heika taking a point away from Brockville and lifting the Flyers to victory with a mere 24 seconds left on the clock.
Prescott is back in action traveling to Winchester to face the Hawks on Friday night. Richmond visits the Leo Boivin on Saturday evening.
