Brewery plays extended version
Windmill Brewery continues the success of its Friday night music series throughout the entire month of September.
Since early in June, every Friday night at 5:30 p.m. the team at Windmill Brewery, located near Johnstown, has welcomed local musical talent to entertain guests while they enjoyed the freshly brewed beer and outstanding meals served from Newport BBQ and Bakery. It's a new and unique combination that seems to be a hit with local residences.
Brewery owner Sean Lucey said "We started the season off late in May with a local Celtic band and the day was a great success. Then I approached one of the musicians about helping line up musicians for a few Friday nights and things just seemed to come together."
It became apparent that there was an appetite for good food and good music in the area. Each week regulars and new visitors alike arrive early for dinner and a show to kick-off their weekend.
"We knew right away that the format was a good one and our new pavilion was a welcoming environment. On a nice evening we'll see up to 150 guests." Lucey continued, "So now we've decided to run through to the end of September with some new performers and some returning favourites. We're also working on plans for a big season finale on September 29."
When asked what's next, Lucey eluded to plans for social events in the fall, an expanded music presence next year and maybe even something special in the pavilion on New Year's Eve.
"We're working on a real all-Canadian themed New Year's Eve. It's going to be great".
Windmill Brewery is located at 5 Newport Drive on County Road 2, halfway between Prescott and Johnstown. Friday shows start at 5:30 p.m.
